“You can’t be seriously considering letting the rogue on the council.” Kian paced Voss’s study, fuming at the nerve of Arden for showing up with talks of being on the council.

Kian, Madden, and Vanessa went back to the main house with the others instead of their home. Jericho and Micha were there too with their sentries. The healers were in the living room with the women, which didn’t settle well with Kian. The fact that Madden was out there with Vanessa only eased his possessiveness a little.

“We can’t stop him from filing.” Voss turned his computer on and messaged Brazen.

Within moments, the techno-geek’s face appeared on the big screen on the wall. His black and purple hair was an unruly mess on top of his head. He ran his fingers through it, but the short strands seemed to have a mind of their own. “I wanted to be lazy this morning. I owe Arden a punch in the face. Or stab in the face.”

There was a noise in the background and Brazen frowned and turned from the screen. “Reagan. Video call.” He smiled and rolled his eyes. “Go wake Ryse.”

Kian relaxed, and his soul lifted a little. It was great seeing his clan mates and friends find their mates.

Brazen faced the screen again. “Definitely owe Arden a stabbing.”

Voss worked his jaw, most likely trying to hold in his amusement with Brazen. “Arden has filed paperwork to make his pack official.”

“Fuck.” Brazen starting typing on his keyboard. “Yep. The bastard filed it yesterday. I don’t like this.”

“Neither do I.” Voss tapped his fingers on the desk. “But as long as he’s playing by the rules, there isn’t anything we can do. The council is so new, the people don’t trust it completely yet.”

Brazen nodded. “It’ll throw the council off balance. There will be seven, no longer an even number.”

Micha spoke up from the seat directly in front of Voss. “What about someone to represent the human females?”

Azar snapped his fingers. “One of the females could join the council.”

Kian liked that idea, but it came with risks. “That would give them a lot of public exposure. Plus, it would put a target on her back for idiots like Arden.”

“True, but…” Brazen sat back in his office chair, a slow grin forming. “Katrina had law enforcement training on Earth. Her files made her out to be a little badass. Plus, one of her mates is Daven. Arden isn’t even dumb enough to mess with Daven.”

Kian snorted. “Daven wouldn’t want her in the public eye.”

“It isn’t Daven’s decision.” Voss picked up his comm and typed in a number and pressed speaker.

Katrina answered on the second ring. “Hello.”

“Hello, Katrina. It’s Voss.”

“Hi.” The word was spoken slowly as if she was unsure why the dragon king was calling her. “Daven isn’t here. Did you need to speak with Shade? He has his comm off again.”

Voss chuckled. “No. Shade doesn’t like the comm. It screws with his magic. I called to ask you something. And you are on speaker.
